Greece energy summit: Turkey, Cyprus lay claim to natural gas
Cyprus to exploit vast gas and oil reserves also claimed by Turkey for island’s Turkish-Cypriot community.
An energy summit in Athens has highlighted ongoing tensions between Cyprus and Turkey as the former makes plans to explore the vast reserves of oil and gas in an area it has demarcated as its Exclusive Economic Zone.
But with the question of political rights still not settled between the competing communities on the island, it seems likely that the issue of energy reserves will also go the same way.
