US wildfires raze California as 200,000 residents flee

Fanned by fierce winds, state of emergency in California declared as multiple wildfires burn out of control.

California’s governor has declared a state of emergency as multiple wildfires burn uncontrollably.

Almost 200,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes as hurricane-force winds threaten to devastate large areas of the state.

Almost three million people could see blackouts as California’s Pacific Gas and Electric Company cuts electricity supplies for fear power lines could lead to more fires.
