Murder of Mozambique election observer under spotlight

Killing by police officers occurred amid widespread reports of vote irregularities and violence at polling stations.

Mozambicans are waiting for results to be announced following general elections on Tuesday. The opposition has complained of ballot-stuffing and other irregularities, and rights groups reported violence during the counting at dozens of polling stations.

There was also violence during the campaigns, including the murder of an observer allegedly by five policemen.
