US federal workers set to miss second paycheque

US government workers in the US are losing out as the shutdown grinds on, unable to pay their bills.

About 800,000 government workers in the United States are about to miss their second monthly paycheque because of the government shutdown.

That includes tens of thousands of workers who handle tax forms, who have been called back to the office for the start of the tax season.

Many say they’re drowning in bills.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo spoke to one such worker in Kansas City, Missouri.
