Bolivia volunteers brave wildfires to save animals

An armadillo; a tortoise; a hawk; a boa constrictor – all are recovering thanks to the efforts of Bolivian veterinarians who travelled to the Nembi Guasu Reserve to rescue animals injured by the fires.

Volunteers are in a race against time to save animals trapped by fires in Bolivia.

Nearly 1.5 million hectares of tropical dry rainforest in Bolivia have been destroyed by wildfires which continue to spread out of control southward towards neighbouring Paraguay. Among the biggest victims are the large and diverse number of animals trapped in the flames.
