Argentina crisis: Government plans to cut ministries

Tough times, tough measures – why hundreds are protesting against some of Argentina’s economic decisions

Argentina is set to make a series of spending cuts in an effort to stabilise the country’s spiralling currency crisis after the peso lost more than half its value this year.

The government has announced plans to slash half of its ministries.

One of those affected is the Ministry of Health, where hundreds of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers have staged demonstrations in the capital.
