Scott Morrison in as new prime minister of Australia

Exiting PM Malcolm Turnbull did not run in the internal Liberal Party election called by rival Peter Dutton, who was defeated in the poll by Scott Morrison.

Australia has a new prime minister, after the ruling Liberal Party replaced its leader.

Scott Morrison defeated Peter Dutton in an internal party vote.

It’s the fourth time since 2010 that a prime minister has been voted out of the job by his or her own party.
