Kerala floods: ‘Over-deployment led to disaster’
Nearly a million people remain displaced from their homes in the Indian state of Kerala, as it recovers from the worst floods in a century.
The quantity of rain that has caused the flooding was unprecedented: two and half times the normal quantity for August so far.
Many are now questioning whether the disaster could have been avoided – in a state that’s otherwise used to heavy monsoon seasons.
It’s likely no one factor caused Kerela’s flooding. But human activity and inactivity seems to have made them worse
