Hamas, the Palestinian group which controls the Gaza Strip, has told Al Jazeera a truce has been agreed to stop the violence.
But Israeli media is suggesting the Israeli government has denied that an agreement has been reached.
A flare up in cross-border violence has seen three Palestinians killed in Israeli air raids, and Hamas rockets fired into southern Israel.
