US seafood industry struggles without foreign workers

The Trump administration’s tightening of H-2B visas has resulted in a shortage of seasonal workers in Maryland’s crab picking industry which, in turn, is driving some US businesses and towns to the brink.

The US seafood industry is feeling the pinch of Trump’s tightening immigration policies, which has created a shortage of labourers.

Those in Maryland’s crab meat sector say many businesses that employ foreign workers are now in danger of shutting down.
