
Deadly protests in Haiti against fuel prices increases
In a country where a majority of workers receive less than two dollars a day, many are saying they cannot handle the increases which have driven petrol prices to nearly five dollars a litre.
At least one person is dead after protests in Haiti turned violent.
A steep increase in fuel prices has angered people who say they are already dealing with extreme poverty.
In February, Haiti’s government agreed to reduce fuel subsidies in exchange for IMF aid.
