Medical staff in Nicaragua sacked for treating protesters
Doctors worry that the firings are just the first phrase of retribution against those whom the government believes sided with the protesters.
Scores of doctors and other medical personnel at a public hospital in Nicaragua‘s second-largest city, Leon, have been sacked in retaliation for supporting and treating students and other opponents of the government in the last three months of civil unrest.
According to Nicaragua’s Association of Human Rights, at least 448 people have been killed and thousands more injured.
