Syria’s war: Families receive death certificates for relatives
Thousands of death certificates are being issued for Syrians detained by Assad’s regime during the uprising, but their families fear the certificates are merely covering up crimes against humanity.
After years of silence and uncertainty, thousands of Syrian families are now being given official death certificates for their missing relatives.
But the government has not released their bodies or any evidence of the cause of death.
Many of them had been detained or forcibly disappeared by Bashar al-Assad‘s forces.
The families are accusing the authorities of hiding their crimes.
