Intimidation and murder: Brazilians fight unequal land ownership
Confronting logging and mining companies and agribusinesses can be lethal in Brazil, the deadliest country in the world for environmental activists.
Figures released by the campaigning organisation Global Witness show that 207 environmental activists were murdered last year.
In its annual report, the NGO said that the killers often work for mining and logging companies or big agricultural businesses.
The most dangerous country, as it has been for the past few years, is Brazil, where 57 environmental and land activists were murdered.
