US teachers unions push for better pay despite setbacks
Teachers here are among the lowest paid in the nation but their actions and success in getting more pay inspired others to follow suit.
Teachers from across the US are about to meet to decide what to do next with their demands for better pay and working conditions.
Thousands have been taking part in state-wide strikes in recent months.
In June the Supreme Court dealt a potential blow to the collective bargaining power of unions ruling that government workers can no longer be required to pay dues.
