AU summit opens with call for actions on S Sudan conflict

The African Union was established to promote peace and regional stability but African leaders are struggling to resolve regional conflict.

More than 40 African leaders have gathered in Mauritania to discuss ways to fight corruption and extremism.

The African Union (AU) has called for action regarding the situation in South Sudan, where a recent ceasefire agreement between feuding parties collapsed soon after it was reached.

The AU is struggling to solve regional crises, including the conflict in South Sudan, Somalia and Libya.
