Ethiopia-Eritrea peace: Leaders sign end to ‘state of war’
Ethiopians and Eritreans celebrated the new show of goodwill while the UN praised the step and offered its support.
The head of the United Nations has praised a peace deal to end a 20-year standoff between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Antonio Guterres pledged UN support for the pact.
And he’s signalled the possibility that long-term UN sanctions against Eritrea could be lifted.
