One year since farmers killed by police in India’s Mandsaur
Farmers had been protesting over low produce prices, a problem that persists, when officers opened fire on them.
It has been a year since at least six farmers were killed in the northern Indian city of Mandsaur.
Police opened fire on them while they were protesting against the low prices their produce fetched at market, a serious issue that continues to fuel poverty.
Many also blame the government for cutting much-needed agricultural subsidies that led to a suicide crisis among farmers.
