Libya fighting: Haftar’s forces enter Derna city

Haftar’s forces entered the city on Monday morning in an organised military operation.

Fighters loyal to veteran military commander Khalifa Haftar have entered the eastern city of Derna, Libya.

An al-Qaeda-linked group has held the city, but the self-styled Libyan National Army has besieged it for two years.

The UN says fighting has reached unprecedented levels, and there are severe shortages of basic supplies.
