Jordan’s King Abdullah ‘to ask PM Mulki to resign’

King Abdullah is expected on Monday to ask Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki to resign in a bid to soothe widespread anger over economic policies that has sparked the largest protests in several years, sources tell Al Jazeera.

Jordan‘s prime minister may be on his way out.

Sources have told Al Jazeera that King Abdullah will ask Hani al-Mulki to resign in a meeting at the Royal Palace in Amman, Jordan, on Monday.

There have been days of protests in the kingdom after the government proposed raising income tax by at least five percent.
