Iraq post-ISIL: Hundreds of bodies found buried in Mosul

The remains of ISIL fighters are being found close to dead civilians who were unable to escape the fighting in Iraq’s second-largest city.

Hundreds of bodies have been found in the Iraqi city of Mosul almost a year after it was taken from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS).

They were buried in ruins and along the banks of the Tigris river and discovered during a renewed search effort.
