Kenya launches scheme to export crude oil

In an unprecedented bid to capiltalise on the country’s reserves, the first convoy of trucks set off from the northwestern Turkana region to the coast.

Kenya has launched a pilot scheme to export crude oil as part of efforts to capiltalise on the country’s reserves. The first convoy of trucks set off from the northwestern Turkana region to the coast 1,000km away on Sunday.

It is believed that an estimated 750 million barrels lie beneath Turkana county.
