Windrush generation celebrates 70 years since arriving in the UK
The British government has apologised for the treatment of Caribbean immigrants known as the ‘Windrush generation’ and has promised celebrations to honour the migrants that helped rebuild the country after World War II.
There have been celebrations in the UK to mark 70 years since hundreds of migrants arrived in the UK from the Caribbean.
They became known as the “Windrush generation” – named after the name of the ship they sailed on – and paved the way for many thousands of others.
