UK: Tens of thousands march to mark 100 years of women’s suffrage

The centennial is not just a celebration of the suffrage movement, but is being used to highlight and organise for modern women’s political causes, as well.

Tens of thousands of women in Great Britain have marched together to create a living artwork celebrating 100 years since they won the right to vote. The suffragette movement campaigned for decades for women’s democratic rights – using both protest and direct action. Sunday’s event was a reminder of contemporary struggles, too.
