Lebanon elections: New electoral law draws concern

Lebanon has gone to the polls on Sunday, but not only is this the first parliamentary election in nine years, it is the first test of a new electoral law that is supposed to give new candidates a better shot.

Lebanon is holding its first parliamentary elections in nine years.

Thousands of ballot boxes are being distributed across 15 electoral districts.

But with the country still divided along sectarian lines, there’s little hope a new electoral system will bring major political changes.
