Families take EU to court over climate change
‘People’s Climate Case’ launched by eight families from different countries is first to be brought against EU.
Families from eight countries are suing the European Union (EU) for failing to adequately protect them from climate change.
The claim, nicknamed the “People’s Climate Case”, is the first of its kind to be brought against the EU.
The families say climate change is infringing on their fundamental human rights – and the EU is not doing enough to prevent further damage.
Al Jazeera’s Sonia Gallego reports.
