Paris: Chaos for commuters as rail strike disrupts service

French rail unions have called for rolling strikes over benefits cuts, but the government says the national rail company, SNCF, must be reformed by 2020 when railways will be opened to foreign competition.

Trains have been cancelled across France, as railway workers strike against President Emmanuel Macron‘s planned reforms. In Paris, just one in four trains in Paris has been running – as rail unions demand the government give up its plans to cut benefits and pensions.
