Youth artists risk everything for music and peace in Mogadishu

Al-Shabab attacks have long left Somalia’s youth trapped indoors in a claustrophobic boredom, but a rare music concert is bringing some relief and is a sign that things may be changing.

Years of conflict between Somalia‘s government and the armed group al-Shabab have left a generation of young people living behind closed doors.

Religious conservatism has also held many young men and women back from going out together.

But change is in the air.
