New York’s Tribeca festival sees record female feature films

The 17th Tribeca Film Festival includes a conscious effort to bring parity to the sexes in an industry rocked by the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the #MeToo movement.

New York’s famous film festival is showcasing its highest number of female feature film directors in its 17-year history. The Tribeca festival was founded in an attempt to help revitalise lower Manhattan after the attacks of September 11 and has since grown into an international event.
