Israel’s Gaza blockade blamed for water crisis

The water from Gaza’s taps is unsafe to drink because it contains dangerous levels of chlorine and sulphate.

Waste treatment plants cannot work at full capacity because of electricity and fuel shortages, which means sewage is pumped directly into the Mediterranean Sea.

Israel’s 10-year blockade on Gaza has been blamed for the crisis.
