Businesses in Qatar booming since Gulf crisis began

More than 3,000 new businesses have opened in Qatar since a Saudi-led bloc imposed a blockade in June.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the economic effect of the blockade on Qatar is fading. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt cut diplomatic and financial ties in June. The IMF has found that the crisis has acted as a catalyst for self-reliance.

Al Jazeera’s Sara Khairat met one young Qatari entrepreneur whose recycling business has boomed since the blockade began.
