France: Police battle protesters over nuclear waste storage plans
Police used tear gas during clashes with anti-nuclear protesters at a waste site in northeastern France on Saturday.
Police in France have used tear gas on environmentalists protesting against plans to store nuclear waste near a town in the northeast.
The two groups clashed in a field near the proposed site.
Protesters are upset by plans to place nuclear waste 500 metres below the ground.
