Macron’s MPs: New immigration bill ‘betrays French values’

The controversial immigration and asylum bill has sparked opposition from rights groups, opposition parties and even members of President Emmanuel Macron’s own party.

The French government is reviewing a new immigration bill that is expected to streamline the asylum process, but also make it harder for people seeking jobs.

Some members of President Emmanuel Macron‘s own party say the proposals betray France‘s humanitarian tradition.

Others say the bill is not tough enough.
