US government report says climate change exacerbating disasters

A new report from the US government highlights the difference of opinion between government agencies and a president who doesn’t distinguish between daily fluctuations and long-term trends.

A congressionally mandated report from the US Global Change Research Program says extreme weather disasters are getting worse in the US and that climate change is to blame.

The multi-agency report said weather events will cost the US economy hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of the century.

Its conclusions conflict with the public statements of President Donald Trump, who called climate change a “hoax” and questioned global warming earlier this week because it was cold in the US and UK.
