New museum in US tackles racist heritage of law enforcement

A new museum dedicated to the history of law enforcement has opened in Washington, DC, saying it wants to create a dialogue as police have come under increasing scrutiny in recent years.

The director of the new National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, DC, says that he wants to create a dialogue between law enforcement and its critics in the US.

However, not everyone is impressed, arguing that although the museum has exhibits acknowledging the racist and xenophobic heritage of law enforcement, it fails to address how that ties to current controversies and to the experiences of the policed.
