Election countdown begins in Pakistan

Security is being tightened ahead of Wednesday’s crucial elections as more than 100 million registered voters are gearing up to elect their next leader.

Ballot papers are being taken to different polling centres across Pakistan.

Campaigning came to a close 24 hours before those polls open on Wednesday.

Four major political parties are in the race for the country’s second civilian handover of power after a full term.
