Haiti unrest: Protesters call for PM’s resignation

A vote of confidence has been scheduled in the parliament for Saturday, but there is intense pressure on the prime minister to step down before then.

Haiti’s prime minister is facing increasing calls to step down, after days of violent demonstrations sparked by plans to raise fuel prices.

There were peaceful protests across the country on Wednesday – and more are expected later this week in the run-up to a vote of confidence in the national assembly.
