Residents of destroyed Mosul plea for help to rebuild the city

In Iraq’s post-ISIL Mosul, symbols of suffering still dominate the cityscape but there are signs of hope that city is rebuilding and recovering.

Four years ago, ISIL (also known as ISIS) controlled the Iraqi city of Mosul.

The battle to recapture it cost thousands of lives and the city was left in ruins.

For former residents lucky enough to escape ISIL’s web of violence and inhumanity, things remain difficult.
