The war in Yemen: UN warns 250,000 could die in Hudaida

Fighting nearby is threatening to close the port, a lifeline for many.

The United Nations warns that a quarter of a million Yemenis could die if fighting cuts off crucial supplies coming through the port of Hudaida. Forces led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are within 20 kilometres of the Red Sea port.

It is controlled by Houthi rebels and is the main entry point for food and aid shipments.
