Trump hosts first Ramadan Iftar dinner at White House

Wednesday marked the first Iftar hosted by Trump, sparking much criticism from the Muslim community.

US President Donald Trump, whose rhetoric and policies have infuriated the Muslim community, has hosted his first Iftar – the sunset meal had by Muslims to break their daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan – at the White House.

But the event is drawing sharp criticism from American Muslim groups.
