Palestinian activist mounts challenge over Israel prison ‘abuse’

A leading Palestinian activist is mounting a legal challenge against the Israeli police over allegations he was beaten while in custody.

Jafar Rafah was among 21 people arrested in the city of Haifa in a demonstration against Israel’s policies towards Gaza.

His treatment is highlighting concerns about freedom of speech for Palestinian citizens of Israel.
