Emails show UAE-linked lobbying effort to oust Tillerson: reports

Leaked emails show a lobbying effort to get US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson fired for failing to support the UAE-backed blockade against Qatar.

Evidence has emerged suggesting a businessman with links to the United Arab Emirates tried to convince the US President Donald Trump to sack Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.

Leaked emails obtained by the BBC found Elliot Broidy, a major Trump fundraiser, wanted Tillerson fired for not supporting the UAE-backed blockade against Qatar.

Al Jazeera’s Rosiland Jordan reports from Washington, DC.
