Catalan villagers uncertain about independence referendum

There is a week to go until residents of Catalonia hold a controversial independence referendum, which the Spanish government has dismissed as illegal.

But to many residents living in the heartland, this vote is bigger than politics or money, it is about retaking control of the region’s cultural destiny.
