Macau and Hong Kong face brunt of deadly typhoon

The chief executive of Macau, Fernando Chui Sai On, has apologised for not being better prepared for the worst storm to hit it in 50 years.

Typhoon Hato killed 16 people across southern China, including nine in Macau. Half of the flooded city has faced cuts in power supplies and water services.

Neighbouring Hong Kong has also been badly hit and is facing a $1bn repair bill.
