The USS Indianapolis went missing after it was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1945. But just before that it had delivered components of one of the two nuclear bombs that were dropped on Japan.
The expedition crew, which was led by Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen, used specialist remote technology to scour miles of ocean floor at huge depths.
