Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in parts of the US to protest the acquittal of a police officer who shot and killed Philando Castile, a black motorist, during a routine traffic stop.

Castile’s last moments were livestreamed by his girlfriend after he was pulled over in the state of Minnesota last year.

A court on Friday cleared officer Jeronimo Yanez of manslaughter.
