Syrian troops and allied forces fighting ISIL have reportedly reached the Iraqi border for the first time since 2015, advancing close to a strategic area.
Syrian state news agency SANA said that the forces arrived at the border on Friday and “set up positions in an area northeast of At-Tanf”.
But the Syrian advance has worried the US-led coalition, which is also fighting ISIL.
