Tropical storm Kai-Tak batters Philippines

Typhoon Kai-Tak has dumped more than two months’ worth of rain on the eastern Philippines, causing landslides that have killed dozens and cut off many communities from electricity and transportation.

In the Philippines, at least 31 people have been killed in landslides caused by Tropical Storm Kai-Tak.

Rescuers are trying to find 40 others who are still missing.

A state of emergency has been declared.
