Lebanon faces criticism over appointment of ambassador to Syria

Lebanon has appointed an ambassador to Damascus for the first time since the start of the Syrian war six years ago

The appointment by Prime Minister Saad Hariri has been sharply criticised by his cabinet which says it legitimises the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
