‘From hell to hell’: Sharp rise in refugee arrivals on Lesbos

The past few months have seen a sharp increase in refugees arriving on Lesbos by boat from Turkey. Over a million people have landed on the Greek island since 2015.

The past few months have seen a sharp increase in refugees arriving on Lesbos by boat from Turkey. Over a million people have landed on the Greek island since 2015.

Conditions inside the main government-run camp are poor and there is little prospect of travelling further into Europe.

Despite this, up to 200 people are arriving on the island on a daily basis.
